A Loft Space

This guy's mom has a pretty amazing home. I'll admit it, I was lucky enough, to do the interior design. It's what, in my opinion, "bonded" the 2 of us. Really bonded us. We worked on the entire home, together. Start to finish. Over a year. It was one of my favorite projects!

These days, her grand babies, are spending much more time with grandma. So grandma decided it's time to make a few changes. To her lovely home. Changes that will allow the girls, to have a space of their own.

First we had to decide on a room. Well, Mrs. J has a beautiful loft space. And after much thought, we've decided to move her "reading room," to a lower level. Then make the loft area, a space for the girls. Great ideas.

I asked Mrs. J, to look for some inspiration. I had an idea. The girls had an idea. But this is Mrs. J's home. I want her to have a space that she can enjoy. Even when the girls aren't there. And what did Mrs. J fall in love with? The same picture that I'd saved to my computer. :)

People it was something, that just made me happy. With a few splashes of color, I knew this would be perfect for the girls. Heck, as they get older, we can change the accent colors. And Little W, can also enjoy this space.

We've slowly been tackling this. With all that's been going on, in this man's life, it's been slower than expected. But we picked out the wood flooring. And the wood for the one accent wall. We didn't want to feel like we were in a "tree." That's not with this remodel was all about. So we decided on one wood wall.

For the ceiling, we're going with something a bit different. A paper technique. So that will have to wait a bit. Until all the other "heavy work" is done. After taking a look last night, we're right on schedule!

The floors are installed. A window seat has been built. The trim is painted and installed. The walls are painted. Heck, in just 2 weeks, we've got a fully functioning bathroom!!! OK, I'm getting excited. :)

This week, we're focusing on the fun stuff. Like that ceiling. Oh, I can't wait! I'm also waiting to hear back, from the carpenter. Who is building us beds. That are so fun! And when they are not being used as beds, can easily be transformed, into comfy couches.

This is just one of those really fun projects. One that I'm happy to be a part of. The room has an "outdoor" feel to it. With tons of light. A very spacious feeling. To me, it feels a bit like, living in a glamorous tree house. With a bit of sparkle, that only girls can appreciate. Something I would have adored, when I was little. ♥

Dreaming in Red...

Lately, I've been dreaming of rich, and romantic colors. Mostly, of red, purple, and blue. Not together. But as a base, for certain rooms. We are quite the "Fans of Color," around this home!

My bedroom, in my own home, is a deep purple. It's so incredibly rich. With a "Moroccan theme." And I adore it! Between the accessories, my favorite color, and all the linens...it makes me miss home. Just thinking of my room.

I took to Pinterest. To see what other people were cooking up. And I came across a lot of nice spaces. I just feel like, we need a room in our home, like this. I mean, this guy, has the most amazing "Poker Room." Painted a deep, burnt orange. So why can't I have a "Red Reading Room?"

I'm using this picture as inspiration. I actually ventured out the other day, and found a beautiful desk. Just perfect for this space. With some incredible lanterns, candles, and accessories. They just need to be cleaned up.

As far as a comfy chair, and sofa...we just ordered them. I found a style that I like. But had to have it ordered, in the color, and fabric, that I LOVE!!! Oh, and the same company, is re-upholstering an amazing chair I found. For the desk. :)

I've also set out, to find the perfect rug. And curtains. I guess I could sew the curtains. But I'm honestly, not "feeling it" right now. Never fear. I will be doing a tad bit of sewing. In the form of pillows. And possibly a throw.

Even that was quite a story. I'd been eyeing this fabric. But at $50+ a yard, was not going to buy it. I'd look at it. Think about. Run around, look at pillows. Price everything. Try to figure out, what was the best "Bang for My Buck." Ultimately, this guy had enough of my indecisiveness.

Rather, he knows me. And knows that if he doesn't buy the fabric, I'll continue like this...quite possibly, forever. So he ordered a "boat load" of fabric. I almost died, when I got home one day. And all this lush fabric, was waiting for me.

Speaking of, I might just find someone to make those drapes for me. I'm 100% positive, we have more than enough fabric. I just don't like making window treatments. I don't know why. I just don't like it.

But there you go. My next little project. Like I need one. Right? We already have a library. But there's this perfect little room, that was begging for some love. And I just had to go help her out. Besides, the lighting is perfect! And the views are breathtaking. It's the most perfect place, to read, write, and just "be."

People always ask me, "What do you do without little ones?" This my friends, is what "child-less couples" do. They work on their homes. They redecorate. They become DIY champs! Who knows, one day, we might repaint one of these rooms, to be a nursery. One day. Until then...well, I've got a "Red Baby" to tackle! ♥

It's October!!!

If you know anything about me, know this. I LOVE to decorate for the holidays. LOVE IT!!! I'm pretty sure, I have my Auntie Chuchie to thank for that. I remember decorating, when I was little. We'd start in September, to decorate for Halloween. Days after Halloween, those decorations came down. And immediately, the Christmas decorations went up.

When I moved into my own home, well I became a "Decorating Diva." As my neighbors would call me. :) I immediately started a "Wreath Collection." And well, everyone knew what time of year it was, just by looking at my home.

These days, I still decorate. But I try to make it a little more "Homemade with Love." I take more care, with what I buy. And put up. I like to go with "color palettes." And I try to put up "Fall Decorations," in September. And then sprinkle in Halloween things in October. Then "edit" just a bit, and add in Thanksgiving items, in November.

With that being said, I'm always looking for a new idea. Something interesting. And a little sweet. I've already put up some orange lights. Not pumpkins, but orange twinkle lights. There might even be some purple ones in our kitchen. :) But I wanted to try a few new things. So like any blogger, I headed to Pinterest for some inspiration.

I found this adorable wreath. Something that I probably should have found a month ago! I like the use of burlap. And those flowers. Oh, those flowers!!! I think this would be one of those pieces, that can take you from September, to the end of November.

This wreath looks fairly easy to make. I'd start with making lots of orange flowers. Maybe in September have more red and orange. Then change the red to black, in October. And as we get into November, change the black to mustard. The simple sign inside, is another piece that can easily be exchanged. I've seen similar pieces at Hobby Lobby. :)

Now this wreath screams "Halloween" to me! I adore this wreath. The entire look of it. Traditional, in terms of a wreath. A bit trendy, with the zebra print bow. And just fun, with the folds. This my friends, is going to be my project for the week. :)

Now this, is a mantel! This is what I'm talking about, when I say, I work with a "color palette." Last year, we went with a black and white "themed" mantel. In our den. Honestly, it was my favorite.

I went out, and bought a bunch of decorations at a thrift store. You know, the old, ceramic type. And I painted them black and white. Some were just owls. Others were traditional pumpkins. It was definitely fun!

Decorating can be so easy, and fun. Even holiday decorating, can be elegant. And can reflect, on the decor of your home. It's October 1st. And I've already got pumpkins, on our dining room table. And a few "spooky decorations" on our entry table. This is just the beginning. Especially after searching through Pinterest for 2 hours! ♥

Fishy Fun

I think by now, you know that this guy and I, are quite hilarious! Looking for fun items for our homes. So it shouldn't shock you, that I got an e-mail from this guy...with this picture...

"Perfect for Florida!" I've got to say this much, this man has a GREAT sense of humor. But this time around, he's not kidding. You see, he's had his home in Florida for 10+ years now. Last February, he decided that it needed some love. And upgrading. And after we were there in July, the work has begun.

Yes, we've worked on lots of things together. Made plans. I've flown out there a few times. Work is going great! And everything is going to be super fun. A little different from our "normal" tastes. But definitely fun!

This sink, just makes me laugh! Could you imagine what people will think? Well, I guess we don't have to wonder. Because this guy, just ordered something similar. A little larger. But similar. And where on Earth did he find his inspiration? On Pinterest! See what happens, when he's 1000s of miles away from me. And here I thought, he'd be having late nights with his buddies. ♥

Perfection in a Suitcase!

The one thing you should know about My Guy and I is, we're hilarious! We have a funky style. And we are always looking for fun items. Things that are "outside the box." And just different.

This could be why, our homes are taking forever to finish up! We want unique pieces. But also pieces that are inviting, and comfortable. Do you know what I mean? This has meant, ordering lots of things. And I swear to you, every single time I get on Pinterest, there is trouble. Because, then we want a million more things, for our homes...

We're getting close to being finished. Close. But there are still some key pieces missing. Things that just make our space, well "ours!" And like I said, I troll Pinterest, blogs, any place I can think of, for inspiration. That's where I found this chair!!!

And oh, I want one. For our library. How fun would that be? To put next to a window. And get lost in a good book. Oh my goodness! Hello!!! I even have the perfect suitcase. So I called up Joe, to see if he could help a girl out. And he said yes!!! Now I'm just wondering, when I can sit in my new chair? Can you tell how happy I am?

Repurpose to Organize

I'm one of those crazy, OCD, organizing fools! I'm not lying. Poor this guy. He's got to put up with all my nonsense! And not just my crazy organizing ways. But also my LOVE of thrifty. And creating. Oh, and blog reading. But nothing has changed our lives more, than Pinterest.

You see, I spend hours on there. And get all this inspiration. Then I head out hunting, for exactly what I need. To recreate whatever I have in mind. This picture, is just one of the many, that has our "to-do" list, a mile long!

This desk is so adorable! In fact, we have a little nook, in our kitchen, where this will be perfect! I have a crib spring. Honestly, I have no idea where it came from. But I've held on to it. And now, I have a perfect use for it!

I also have some rusty 'ol graters and pans. I had no clue what to do with them. Now, I'm inspired! I'm thinking, that old door I found, will make a nice desk. It's turquoise. Oh, I can't wait to get started. Because I really NEED a desk in there. For jotting down recipes. :) Am I the only person, that gets all excited and inspired, by pictures on Pinterest? ♥

Very Patriotic

A little exhausted here. But a HUGE Congrats to Dawn and Alejandro!!! My Guy and I, are on our way to "Wine Country." To spend a little time together. Oh ya, My Mr. has to work first. This afternoon. Then we'll spend the night, enjoying the beauty of the area. Before we head back to the Southwest. To hangout with Miss Lilah. And prepare for one more wedding.

In the meantime, I'm trying to stay awake. Because I feel guilty sleeping. You know, since My Guy is working from the airplane. And has an entire work day ahead. Even though we ONLY got 2 hours of sleep. A sign of a good wedding! :) So to keep myself occupied, I thought I'd put together some 4th of July ideas. Since we're throwing a big 'ol BBQ for our friends and family. I can't wait to get to the sandy beaches of Florida!!!

First up, is decor. I'm a sucker for holiday decorations! I generally start at the Dollar Tree. Then build from there. In the last 11 years, you'd be so surprised by the collection I've grown. Of nice holiday things, after the holiday. All on clearance. Not just Dollar Tree finds. I'm talking upscale stuff, for a few dollars!!!

And I like handmade. Fun paper decorations and labels. Things that scream "Holiday Fun!" Like these!

Or this...totally a Dollar Tree spread. But so fun! This is something I used to do all the time. And little by little, I've added other staples. Like nice tablecloths. Quality flags and bows. Fun colored glass and platters. But this is a nice place to start. :)

How about some food? You can't forget the food! It's the most IMPORTANT part of the deal! Look for seasonal food. American classics. And anything in red, white, or blue!!!

These fun and easy cookies, are a MUST! As in, I MUST bake these!!! Yum, just looking at this picture, makes me hungry. And smile!

Maybe even some Cake Balls! You can't go wrong with Cake Balls. They are super fun! And even easier to make!!! The possibilities are endless. :)

I'm so excited about the 4th of July!!! I can't wait to get cooking, and baking. I really can't wait to decorate. And of course, celebrate with our loved ones! Do you have any Patriotic Ideas? I'd LOVE to hear about them! I've been on Pinterest for a while. Collecting all these ideas. But I could always use more!!!

Beautiful Inspiration

I've been "On the Fence" about my home. There is a Realtor, that is very interested in my home. So much so, I'd make a good deal of money, with the sale. As in, more than double what paid for it...11 years ago.

But it's my home. Although, I spend little to no time there. It's my "security blanket." And I'm not totally sure about parting ways. Not just yet. Instead, I'm looking at putting a lot of TLC into my home. Since I decided to spend more time in the Southwest this Summer, I've also decided to tackle some "Home Projects."

First up, is some not so fun stuff. Back in May, I worked for 2 weeks. In music stuff. And added to my "nest egg." Because I've known for a while now, that I NEED a new roof. And let me tell you, they are NOT CHEAP!!! A family friend, owns a roofing business in the area. Their estimate, is between $40,000-50,000. Way too high for me! So I'm still on the search. I also have a pretty urgent plumbing issue to fix. Another $500 project. :( Oh, and a new hot water heater...

Those are 3 HUGE projects. Very costly! But there are also many smaller things, that I can tackle. Can I be honest here? I bought paint almost 18 months ago. And that's one project that I'm ready to tackle. Lots of painting! A little sewing. I NEED some curtains. Oh, and a little yard work. :)

But I'm not disappointed. These are things that NEED to get done. But I'm also looking for some inspiration. Not only is this my first home. But it's definitely a "Girl Home." I've got tons of candles, throw pillows, and fun colors.

With a limited decorating budget, due to the important work that needs to be done, I've gone to Pinterest for a little inspiration. Oh, and let me tell you, I'm not disappointed! Just wondering, how much I can get done in 2 months. Just look at this dining room!!!

I'm in LOVE!!! Those flowers, are AMAZING! I'm thinking, they'd be fun in my office. Which is already a fun space. That inspires me every single day. And the crisp white room, WOW! I want a similar looking room. Not for a dining room. Maybe a laundry room. Or guest room.

If you have any ideas, or inspiration, please let me know! Although I'm working on a few different projects, working on my home, is ALWAYS my favorite. Because it's my space. I don't have to think about what someone else likes. Just what I enjoy. Not in a spoiled brat, sort of way. But in the sense, that I won't always have this space. That is just mine. And I want to enjoy it. I want to enjoy my dark purple bedroom, my chandeliers, and all the "girly" touches. ♥

Fun Walls :)

We've been looking at tons of decor ideas. Tons! And one that we keep coming back to, is the idea of the vinyl wall decals. When we were decorating rooms for our "Little Nieces," we used some fun decals.

And now, we realize, that you can use them in other rooms. And they don't look cheesy. OK, some can. But for the most part, they are just fun!

This van, banner, pom-pom decal is just fun! It reminds me of a scribble. Just a little doodle for our wall. OK, I like it. But probably wouldn't put this up in our home. But it is fun!

I saw this, and immediately thought..."Would be perfect for Little Nephew!" We're still working on his room, in our home. I think this would be fun. :)

Or maybe something a little more traditional looking. I just adore this picture! For all the details. Those chairs are AMAZING! Love the light fixture. And those walls...

How about bringing in some nature? Love these trees! And those little birds are adorable. Not too over the top. Just perfect!

This tree is so adorable! Actually, this picture totally inspired me. And I spent about 3 hours searching through Etsy. And finally found a seller to replicate this. I ordered it for our "Mud Room."

Honestly, this is my favorite! This tree is GORGEOUS! I'd LOVE to find this somewhere. I think it would look AMAZING in our living room. It's chic. And whimsical.

There are so many wonderful ideas out there. I found all these pictures on Pinterest. And I've been inspired. These are such fun and easy ways to dress up a room. Not too complicated. Vinyl decals stick well to walls. But come off easily, when you are ready for a change. Definitely something to try out. ♥

We NEED This Space...

I've mentioned it many times before, that we travel a lot. As in 40+ weeks a year! We usually leave on Thursday evening, and return Sunday night. And 99% of the time, we have our motor home, that we stay in. A rather "fancy" little home on wheels.

Before meeting this guy, I thought motor homes/coaches were used for camping. You know, you take it out to the lake. Make a few hook ups, and you're good to go. I never realized, that you can customize these sweet homes on wheels! That they could provide more, than just a comfort for camping.

Heck, our motor home has a better kitchen, than my home has. Comfy couches, internet access, 2 HUGE TVs, wood floors, and anything you could need, while on the road. It's hilarious! But according to this guy, when you spend this much time on the road, it's essential. Our views vary on this. But it can also be, because we have very different careers. And we're in very different financial situations.

Very recently, My Love came home with a brochure. Apparently, it's time for a new "Home on Wheels." Hundreds of thousands of miles later, our home will retire this winter. I'm sad. When we met, it was a shiny new home. And over the last few years, I've made it our home. Not just a place where we eat and sleep, while on the road. But a real, comfortable home!

What made me laugh this week, was this little picture. That My Guy sent me. Because he wants me to be oh so comfy in there. And after our recent trip to Michigan, it's become oh so real, that I'm going to have a HUGE say in our new "Home on Wheels!"

I'd adore a place like this. But I just don't think it would match this guy's style. I really don't. But I might use this picture, as inspiration. I'd adore a "Reading Nook" like that. And comfy furniture. Maybe a place to store a sewing machine. And a "hideaway" desk, for me to use when studying. Oh, and that ceiling, is just screaming my name! My Love, might just regret sending me this picture. :)

But I am at a loss. I don't know the first thing, about designing a motor home. I know what we need. And what we like. But that's it! I've NEVER done this before. To be honest, I don't think this guy has either. I think he had other people do it for him, the last time. And where do you research these things? Can you tell, I'm a fish out of water?!?!?!

Oh No He Didn't!!!

I'm in my hometown for the weekend. My Guy is in Michigan working. Third weekend in a row...that I've had some sort of plans. This weekend, is another busy one. As in a family friend's graduation party tonight. Sofia's Baptismo tomorrow. And Father's Day on Sunday!

Our cellphones are becoming our best friends. No lie! One thing you should know about this guy is, he doesn't e-mail regularly. Not at all! So this morning, I was a little shocked to get an e-mail from him. So much so, I had to do a double take, when I was looking at my inbox.

When I opened the e-mail, I had to laugh. Because this picture, speaks volumes. Without much text!

"We should build a nursery like this. Then get busy fillin' her up! What do ya say?" This man just cracks me up! We talk about marriage and babies a lot!!! And I'm sure, he likes this nursery, because of the colors. Being that orange is his favorite color. :)

This is just not the time. But it was a fun e-mail to get. I'll definitely keep this in mind. Put this in the "Memory Bank." For one day. When we do decide to start a family. Because now, I know, this guy really enjoys the look of this nursery. ♥

Fun Idea

I'm sure that by now, you've seen the commercial. The Home Depot commercial. Where they show the "Flower Box." I've been watching it for months! And now, I want one. Actually, since that first day I seen that commercial, I've wanted one. :)

But for me, I'd plant some edibles in it. You know, herbs. And I'd have this guy, hang it near our kitchen. It would be "Summertime Perfection!" What do you think?

I was even thinking, in my front porch, this would be a good idea. To add lots of color. Because my house is white, my outdoor furniture is neutral, and well I need some color in the porch. This also looks like a very easy project. Now if I could just get some time to make it. ♥

Fun Desk Idea

I've really been looking at tons and tons of furniture lately! Part of it is, we have 3 homes, that need to be finished. But I've been looking for some "Budget Friendly" ideas. Heck, this idea, I'd LOVE to add to my own home. :)

An old coffee table, into a new desk. Personally, I'd use some big legs. Something with more weight to them. But I just adore this idea!

I've been finding lots of crazy furniture, on the side of the road. My daily commute, just takes me by some really nice neighborhoods. And people are ALWAYS updating their homes. For sure, I'm going to be hunting down a coffee table. I'd love to make my own desk. And perhaps, paint it a fun and unique color! ♥

Outdoor Inspiration

I ALWAYS travel with this guy. But let me tell you, this week has been so unexpected. Right out of "left field." It's floored me. Last Saturday, I was in my friends' wedding. Sunday, I "officially" became a Godmother, to 3 beautiful little girls. Monday, I lost my sister-in-law...

It's been emotional. Yesterday, were the services. And I still feel numb. Instead of a somber day, I was supposed to be celebrating Sofia. With this guy. Instead, I was in shock. That my young sister-in-law, is no longer with us. Today, I have to pull it together. It's Dawn's Bridal Shower. And I'm trying to stay happy and positive.

To get me in the mood, I've been on Pinterest. Looking for some inspiration. For our yard. We enjoy being outside. And with a new home, we have a new yard. That NEEDS to feel like home. So here we go...

How about some pretty flowers? In a cute little wooden barrel. I actually have 3 of these. And I sorta hate them. Because flowers are never tall enough, to be seen. But with these modifications, this could work. And it doesn't look too hard!

Or just some beautiful flowers. You see, I have 2 HUGE trees, in front of my home. My front yard NEVER gets any sun. This would be a nice change. A HUGE path of beautiful blooms. :)

How about a little shade. I have a HUGE backyard. With no shade! A nice little porch. But no place to entertain. I'm sorta in love with this entire arrangement. And the fact that it still feels fresh and airy!

At our new home, we have a big 'ol deck. We did buy some great outdoor furniture. But how cool, would these bench seats be? And they are so simple to make! This might just be, our next project. :)

And a beautiful dining area. I just LOVE to eat outside, during these warm months. Who wouldn't want to share a meal, in a beautiful area like this?

Now that I read through this post, I realize that the top 3 ideas, are for my home. The bottom 2, our for our new home. Can you tell that I'm going in a million directions? Oh well. I NEED lots of ideas right now. And Pinterest just happens to be the place, we're I'm drawing some inspiration. Now, we just need to tackle a few of these projects. While the weather is still warm.

Little Nooks

With all this "Making Our Houses, Homes," I've been spending a lot of time on Pinterest! I can't lie. When I've got some down time, I'm on Pinterest. Searching. I just NEED some inspiration!

My latest obsession, is "Reading Nooks." Mostly because, I spend a GREAT deal of time, reading. Whether for school, or for personal reasons. I've ALWAYS got a book in my hand! Just look at some of these ideas I've found!

It's actually funny, that I found this picture. We have a space like this in our home. It's on our back staircase. Right now, we have a bunch of plants up there. I NEVER thought of putting some comfy bedding and pillows up there. It would make a cozy little nook. For all sorts of things! :)

This tepee just makes me smile! Little K adores it too! And asked me, if I could make us one. Looks like Little K and I, have a few things in common. We both want to put it out in the woods. And just hangout. Sounds like fun to me!

And lastly, this is MY FAVORITE!!! In our new home, we have a little attic overlook. And I just didn't know what to do with it. A little office would be nice. Where I can write. And that little nook, is just perfect! For curling up, with my favorite books.

All these pictures, just make me so HAPPY! I want to get started ASAP! I think part of it is, I HATE to have unfinished projects. These unfinished homes, are stressing me out! This man, provides so much for us! And I want him, to be able to go to any of his properties, and enjoy them! Not walk into a home, with no furniture. Worrying about buying furniture, picking out paint colors, and all that other stuff.

Do you know what I mean? Personally, I've owned my home for a few years now. I purchased it almost 11 years ago. It's nowhere near complete. Heck, there is A LOT of work, that needs to be done. But, I'm OK with it. It's mine. And I'm in no rush. I have a long list of things, I want to do with my home. And I have lots and lots of pennies to save.

But when this man buys a home for us, I want to complete it. For him, and I. Yes, My Love works so hard. And I want to do the same for him. That's why, this blog seems to be currently exploding with decorating ideas. I'm sorry if it's boring anyone. But right now, it's all that consumes my thoughts. And I just need to get these projects completed! ♥

Personal Touches...

Do you remember me telling you about my decorating dilemma? Well, I'm still there. I haven't been shopping in forever! If you want to count me, running into Target and Home Depot, for some last minute Mother's Day presents. And that quick trip to Wal-Mart, for this guy's deodorant and shampoo, I haven't been shopping in almost 2 months. Yes, this man is begging me to go grocery shopping. It's at the top of my list for today. :)

Back to my decorating. We call home, the "South." One, because that's where this guy's business is based out of. Two, I currently work, at a local Children's Hospital. Three, we enjoy it. But I'm from the Southwest. My entire family lives there! And a few times a year, we still travel out west. For this guy's work. I also have a home. I purchased on my own, when I was 18. It's where I went to college. 3 hours from my family. Which I still have. Sometimes, we run out there, to "get away."

I also work near there. Part time. But my home, isn't in the best of shape. Personally, I'm just trying to pay for Medical School. I don't want anyone else to pay for it. So it can be tough. My home, has suffered because of this. Partly because, my home was built in the 1940s. It needs a lot of TLC. Say a working heater, water heater, and AC. Perhaps, I could finally fix that pesky little leak. And the plumbing, needs to be completely redone.

Because of my health, I can't really stay there either. That's why My Guy, decided to invest in some property there. It's a lot. A lot on our plate. But after dating for 4 years, we know that our future holds lots of traveling for us. Because of this guy's job. The reality is, if and when we decide to marry, I won't work. We'll continue to travel for his job. And we'll try to equally share our time, between my family and his. Never mind the 2000+ miles.

Each home is very different. But needs personal touches. Needs to feel like home. A place that one day, we can raise a family in. A place to have friends over. A home to enjoy. I've been sorta picky about things. Because I don't want to spend too much money. And I need to remember, we don't have much down time.

But I keep finding these great ideas! And things that I love. Things that I want to fill our homes with. That won't break the bank. I want to do that much, for the man I love. I don't want him to be investing tons of money into these homes. If I can, I want to save us some money.

This project, is something I'm dying to make!!! I cook a lot. And I want to add something, to our kitchen, that makes it a little fun. This could be it. Between, Classy Clutter is a new favorite of mine!

In fact, I've already purchased the materials for this project. I've measured out spaces. And we're well on our way. Project #2. Because Project #1, got started the night before last. In the middle of the night. After our good friend rescued, and delivered a bed to us. :) Thanks again Buddy! ♥

Polka Dot Fun!

I've been in this funny mood lately. On one hand, I want to get our homes in order. The decorating complete. Make it feel, just like our home should feel. On the other hand, I don't want to shop. Or spend money. Even if, I have everything planned out.

It's my crazy personality taking over. I just know it!!! I get into these funky moods! When I've spent weeks making a plan. Researching so many products, ideas, and stores. Then, I just don't want to spend money. Lately, I haven't wanted to spend money on anything!!!

In fact, we've eaten our way, through our freezer, and pantry. There's really, no groceries left. We've had some interesting meals. Literally, unless this man needs something, I've stayed very far away, from any store!!!

With that said, I've had this picture, saved on my computer. For almost a year!!! I've searched high and low, for these chairs. With no luck.

If I could find these chairs, I just might get out of this funk. I might dive head first, into making our houses, homes. Why in the world, do I have to decorate 3 homes at once? When I don't want to do anything, but take long baths, read good books, and nap out on the back porch. I know, I just need to get through this semester. Then life will be more like these polka dots...fun and cheerful! ♥

Making a Home...

I don't remember how I found this blog. And it just happened a few days ago. But I'm in love with Kammy's Korner! This blog, makes me think, I can do anything!

It should be no secret, to any of my readers, that in the last 6 months, this man has bought 2 new homes. That I need to decorate. From across the country! I also don't want to spend a lot of money. Being that we won't spend a whole lot of time, in any of these homes.

I've been getting inspired by Jamielyn. And I want to jump into the world of rescuing, and refinishing furniture. Don't get me wrong, there are certain things, that even I have to say, we need to buy new. Soft furniture, like couches, certain chairs, and of course mattresses.

But for tables, bed frames, wooden chairs, shelves, things like that...I'm ready to try my adventures in refinishing. For months and months, I've been researching. I hadn't had much of a plan. But even I have to say this, at least one of our homes needs to be finished. Complete. Something that is inviting, to our friends and family.

We've only lived in our primary home, for a few months. I don't think I've shared every move we've had to make. Let's just say, we haven't had the best luck in houses. And at times, we've shared a small studio type of place, with 2 dogs, and 2 cats. Above this man's car collection. Talk about nuts!!! The first home this man lived in, when I met him, got seriously damaged. Due to hurricane winds. And became structurally unstable. We certainly couldn't live there. That was just the beginning...

But this home, we took a lot of careful planning, when it came to this home. We had contractors, architects, and builders come from 10 different states. This home is built to withstand so much! No safety measure or expense, was overlooked. This, is hopefully, our "Forever Home." Because I can't handle another move!!! I just don't have it in me...

With that said, our current home, lacks space for others to spend the night. Our spaces are complete. Our bedroom, bathroom, closets, the kitchen, dining room, living room, and this guy's computer room. But honestly, the other half of the house is pretty boring. No furniture. A few things, in each room. In the closets!!!

Because with this home, my motto has been, "If we don't love it, it doesn't come in." Simple. But then, it leads to a half empty home. And a very unmotivated woman. And a man, that doesn't mind. Because he travels most of the week.

Me, I mind! I mind that there isn't room, for Little Sister to stay the night. And some nights, she leaves our home at 2AM. To drive an hour home. It bothers me, that my friends are coming out, in just a few days, and we have no room for them. It bothers me, that my best friend, doesn't have a place to spend the night.

So this blog, has totally motivated me! Almost every day, I make an hour drive to work. An another hour home. If I hit the happy "Traffic Hour," it's a lot more time. Say 3 hours one way!!! But on this long drive that I make, from the large city, to the BFE where we live, I pass tons of homes. And all those people, are always throwing out furniture. Perfectly fine furniture.

I told this guy, I need to start driving his truck to work. That way, I can stop and pick up some of these gorgeous pieces. You know, before the trash truck does! And I'd love to redo them. In fact, I find myself, dreaming up ideas, for the random furniture, that I see on the side of the road.

To be 100% honest, I was jealous when Jamielyn found this bed. And thought to myself, "Now why I can't I find something like that?" Then about a week later, I did. Too bad I was already running late to work. And in a small sports car. That king sized bed, would have never fit! But now that Kammy posted about her Master Bedroom Makeover...I hope I find another bed! And soon!!!

You have to see the "Before and After." It's A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!! The perfect bed, for 1 of our guest rooms. :) The one that opens up to the garden. I'm sure Little Sister would love to stay the night, in this room. Or even Grandma!!! I just adore the bedding. Where in the world did Kammy get that duvet? Now I need someone, to throw out a bed... ♥

I Want to Make These

If there was just more time. Between now and Easter. If we weren't traveling. Or actually knew, where we'd be spending Easter. If only. I feel like lately, that's my little motto. If only...

Well, if I had a few more hours in my day, I'd make a few things. To make our home happy. To give as gifts. To calm myself, just a bit. Recently, a friend, sent me a few pictures. Here's my inspiration.

How about a pretty wreath? Something fun, and unexpected. A little whimsical. I'd love to whip something like this, up for our front door.

How about these simple decorations? Not too Easter-y. That means, we could get away with having them up, just a little longer! I like the simplicity. :)

Or how about some cute, little sheep pillows. I'm really LOVING these pillows! They could go well with our new, buttercup yellow blanket. Sheep and chicks!!! It doesn't get more Spring like than that!!! :)

A fun pillowcase. I want to make a few of these. For some very special little girls. With some minor adjustments. I NEED to make some time, to make these precious pillowcases!

Maybe even this bunny. It's so unusual. But fun! I like the long eyelashes. That the body shape is a little quirky. This could be another fun gift!

These are a few things, that I'd LOVE to make right now! To add a little fun, Spring, and color into our home. What are some projects, that you're wanting to make? Or what are some things, that are inspiring you, this Spring. It could be clothing, pictures, flowers, food, or anything else. I'd LOVE to know!!!

Kitchen Inspired

One thing that I didn't mention, this week, My Guy bought a house. About 5 miles, from where my home is. For a lot of reasons, this is a logical move. Mostly because, when we're in the Southwest, nine times out of ten, we stop there. And well, my home, is in much need of some major TLC.

Honestly, I haven't really lived in my home, for a few years. It's just not a friendly environment, with my health issues. So this, is a good move. An unexpected one. But a good one. :)

We signed papers earlier this week. A nice place. On a lot of property. Again, this is beneficial for this man. Who honestly, enjoys his privacy. Being a "public figure," privacy is a tough thing, to get. So the fact that he buys properties, that are a little secluded, isn't a new thing.

Well, now I have 2 houses, to turn into homes. And I'm needing some major inspiration! Honestly, this new home, is something that we'd talked about, for almost 4 years! Yes, it was a long time coming. We'd seen many, many homes. Thought about a lot. And in the end, we bought an old "farm." Now, we're having a new home built on it. But keeping the old one. Maybe one day, we'll update it. So we can have family and friends, stay over too!

Back to my inspiration. I'm not a fan of the "traditional southwest" decor. Not at all! We're more of an "eclectic" couple. We like streamlined, furniture. Something timeless. With lots of fun accessories. Vintage touches.

First up, on our list, is a kitchen. Mostly, because I LOVE to cook. And My Guy, LOVES to eat. I also feel like, this room, will set the "mood" for the rest of the home. Here are a few bits of inspiration...

I really like the "feel" of this space. The openness of the room. All the windows. But I think it's because we're in the "Golden State." And everything here, is so open. In the Southwest, I'm fearing the sun a bit. It can be brutal. So I don't think, this will necessarily work.

Keeping with the "light and airy" feel, I really like this kitchen. But it also seems, a little too "busy and feminine," for our taste. What I do enjoy, is the color palette, the rustic floor, the big windows, open cabinetry, and the "eclectic feel."

This space is so fun! The mix of textures, is what catches my eye here. I like the idea of mixing new, and old furnishings. And the fun rug!

How about this kitchen? Something is just so fun about it! The color, the "eclectic" feel, and the use of vintage pieces. It's just unexpected. As much as I like this space, I just don't think this will work. Because we need some modern appliances, and such.

Honestly, this was the kitchen, that caught our eye. Something really fun! But sophisticated. It's inviting. Yet, a little quirky. And I LOVE the mix of colors. :)

We like that the "bones" of the kitchen, are modern. The cabinetry is classic. And we're leaning towards high grade, stainless steal appliances. But the accessories are fun, whimsical, and "eclectic." That's where the personality of this kitchen, comes from.

My Guy, really LOVES this table and chairs. I'm a HUGE fan of that rug. Both are items, that our grandmas, once owned. Things that we grew up with. :) And honestly, we're going to include them. So I guess, the "hunting" begins. And so do our plans. Oh, this is going to be fun!
