Movie Date Night

Since we got the good news yesterday, we've been going 100 MPH!!! Lots of things, that had been previously, "Put on the Back Burner," well have to get done. ASAP!!! So we're are busy again. I know. Life really never does stop.

My Guy, worked for a few hours today. Getting back "Into the Groove of Things." You know, until we start traveling tomorrow. I've been running around. Picking up things that we need, heading to the store, just making sure we'll have everything that we could possibly need.

But tonight, we decided to take it easy. Head to the "Lake House." Order in some food, from our favorite Japanese resturant. And watch a few good movies. Starting with The Help. One of my favorites. And surprisingly, one of My Guy's favorites too! Just don't tell anyone. ;)

We also watched The Secret Life of Bees. I'd never seen it. Neither had he. But we'd had it, in our collection, for a few years now. I'm a little embarrassed to admit this, but it was still sealed! I know...

Honestly, it was such a good movie. Super cute. Dakota Fanning, and Queen Latifah make the entire movie! How come I don't remember this movie? Like I never remember hearing about it. But somehow, we had it. :) Now I want to read the book. The books are always better, than the movies. Don't you think?

I don't know if this man shared my same love. Of this movie. He did fall asleep. But I'm thinking, that had more to do with him going back to work. It's been over 2 weeks, since he'd worked. So I'm OK with his napping. In fact, I finished 2 presents I was making. :) A crochet blanket. And a baby set. I even got about halfway, with a scarf and hat set.

We ended our movie watching with Cast Away. And I even got some packing down. As this guy, and our fur babies are now, fast asleep. We really enjoyed this quiet night at home. Very unusual for us. But something that we both, enjoyed so much! I think we need to do this more. You know, without one of us being hurt or sick. Just make a new "Movie Date Night."

What a Good Day!!!

Today was one of those days, that I'm just grateful for. You see, we travel at least 40 weeks a year, for this man's job. Honestly, at times, it's a bit overwhelming.

The weeks usually go like this. Monday we wake up exhausted. It's our ONLY day off. And we usually stay in bed 'til noon. I'm not going to lie, sometimes later. Then we laze about the house. I make a HUGE meal. And we catch up on our favorite TV shows, and movies. Tuesdays we are back to work. I leave the house at 3AM for work. At the hospital. This guy heads into work, around 8AM. We're lucky, to both get home before 10PM. Lucky! Wednesday is usually a repeat. I also have to cram in study time, family time, and a little work (that pays MY bills).

Thursdays are ALWAYS a whirlwind. I leave at the same maddening hour! I get off at noon, sometimes 2PM. Rush home. Quickly pack our bags. And we're leaving on an airplane before dinner time. This is usually the ONLY day, that we eat out. If not, we wouldn't eat!

Fridays usually leave this guy working. Say 7AM to 6PM. Give or take, depending on what he's doing. Saturdays, he works 7AM to 4PM. And Sundays, he's working 7AM to 5PM. Give or take. Some weeks are different. But most are like this.

And on the weekends, I tend to get most of my studying done. Most. I write papers, do research, all that good stuff! And I hangout with this gal. Who also happens to be My Bestie. And get lots of "Q-time" with Baby C!!!

But rarely if ever, do we leave "where our guys work." You see, we stay in some pretty fancy "Homes on Wheels." Also known as "Motor Homes." And we stay in them, all weekend. Hanging out. Cooking. Napping. Things like that.

This week, I was dying to do something fun. Something out of our "Comfort Zone." I wanted to go hiking. And hiking we went!!! I also convinced some other friends of ours to go. We called in lots of sitters, for the kiddos. Let the guys know, they were on their own for meals. All day long! And we headed out.

It was magical!!! The mountains were AMAZING!!! The fresh air, felt so good. And the workout, left my body craving more. We also got to have lots of "Girl Time." With friends, that we don't usually spend this much time with. We laughed. Ate. And just had a good time.

It was something we don't do often. Something I truly wish, we'd do more often. Because, we all do so much for our men. And rarely take the time to "Recharge Our Own Batteries." Today was definitely that kind of day.

And when we got back, our men had cooked us dinner. Got the kiddos cleaned up, and in their PJs. Oh, and our "Homes on Wheels," were still in one piece. Yes, I don't think we could have asked for much more.

Our friends left about 30 minutes ago. I've taken a steaming hot shower. And just sat down. Waiting for this guy, to finish up my little treat...

Yes, that would be an "Orange Soda Float." A new LOVE of mine! Perhaps I can also convince him to give me a massage. And maybe watch some sappy movie. Because this man's girlfriend, is in a pretty good mood tonight. And is hoping for an early night. Yes, our Friday was pretty wonderful! How was yours? ♥

Unexpected...

You should know something about me. Growing up, we had cable. 100+ channels. We were cool. Because it was the 1980s. And most of my friends, didn't have cable. When I moved out, I NEVER got cable. I couldn't afford it. There I said it. I was a college student, quickly becoming a medical student. Who was supporting herself. Did I mention? I didn't just move out of my parents' home. I moved 3+ hours away. And bought a house!

So I NEVER got caught up in the Hallmark or Lifetime movies. Maybe I should have. But I just didn't have the time. Or the money. Yes, I've dated men who had cable/satellite/digit. Heck, we've got 300+ channels now. And honestly, there is little time to watch TV, now when I've got a few hundred channels to watch. When I do watch TV, it's usually on the computer. Yup, I catch up on my shows, weeks later. Lame, but true.

Another thing you should know is, we are movie people. Big time! We travel A LOT!!! And with that, we have very unpredictable schedules. We honestly end up in places, that sometimes don't even have cellphone reception. Places where our internet connections, are similar to the ones we had in 1988. Yup!

Therefore, we watch a lot of movies. Always have a few good ones, on hand. And a few new titles. But Friday night, this guy totally shocked me! You see, we're in the middle of nowhere. But by some miracle, we have cable. And our friends, who usually come over for dinner, decided to stay in. So we were on our own. And this guy, had the idea to watch a movie on the Hallmark channel! I know!!!

I quickly whipped up some snacks, soaked in the sound of pouring rain outside, and settled in for a long snuggle with my favorite guy! It's probably the longest amount of time, we'll have all weekend, to just "be together." And that movie we watched was..."The Engagement Ring."

Such a cute movie! A somewhat "Italian version" of Romeo and Juliet. It had some history, of 2 families, who had once been friends. But a misunderstanding, made the 2 families fight for decades. Now, a younger generation is involved, and falling in love. As the "real story," from decades ago, works it's way out.

Really, this is such a cute movie! One that I'm glad, My Guy suggested. Who knew? Usually, I save these types of movies, for nights when I'm crafting with my Mom. It was definitely a nice change of pace for us. Something we're definitely going to have to do again. :)

I'm sure, this guy will agree to it. As long as I don't make him, watch something too sappy. And we ended our night, talking about what we're going to do, when we get home. Home...I miss you! So much. We miss you!!! And I can't wait to crawl into our HUGE and comfy bed again!!!

A GREAT Love Story!

Today, my friend Dawn is marrying her Prince Charming! She's had a tough life. Filled with tragedy, hurt, and sadness. But at the end of that dark place, she found the most AMAZING man you can imagine!

Alejandro was exactly what she needed. What her kids needed. What made everyone happy, complete, and safe. Someone that just LOVES the 5 of them, because this was God's plan. I'm so happy for them! And so inspired by this AMAZING love story!!!

Just over 2 years ago, Dawn left a pretty horrible situation. With 4 small kids. And nothing else. I'm so happy to say, that J and I, were able to help them start over. Little did we know, that Love was nearby. Waiting to grow and blossom. :)

Just another example of God's Love for us. How he rewards us. With love. Today, my friend will marry her best friend. Her soul mate. And Alejandro will not only vow to love sweet Dawn. But he is adopting her 4 beautiful kids!

I wish the happy couple, a lifetime of love, happiness, and peace. I know that God is going to bless them. And we all pray that their family will grow. With the love, that is planted in their hearts and souls. Congrats Dawn and Alejandro!!!

Oh No He Didn't!!!

I'm in my hometown for the weekend. My Guy is in Michigan working. Third weekend in a row...that I've had some sort of plans. This weekend, is another busy one. As in a family friend's graduation party tonight. Sofia's Baptismo tomorrow. And Father's Day on Sunday!

Our cellphones are becoming our best friends. No lie! One thing you should know about this guy is, he doesn't e-mail regularly. Not at all! So this morning, I was a little shocked to get an e-mail from him. So much so, I had to do a double take, when I was looking at my inbox.

When I opened the e-mail, I had to laugh. Because this picture, speaks volumes. Without much text!

"We should build a nursery like this. Then get busy fillin' her up! What do ya say?" This man just cracks me up! We talk about marriage and babies a lot!!! And I'm sure, he likes this nursery, because of the colors. Being that orange is his favorite color. :)

This is just not the time. But it was a fun e-mail to get. I'll definitely keep this in mind. Put this in the "Memory Bank." For one day. When we do decide to start a family. Because now, I know, this guy really enjoys the look of this nursery. ♥

Since I Met You Baby....

It's been a tough month. Tough couple of months, for ya Doll Face. It pains me, that I can't fix these things for ya. As much as ya do for me. I wish I could do more for ya. Take some of the pain away for ya.

There's something that I do know. Since I met ya, my life has been better. For many reasons. Mostly cause ya love me. Nothing more. Just cause ya love me.

I know that ya work hard to provide us with a comfortable home. A welcoming home. Full of love. Making my life easier. It hasn't gone unnoticed. Believe me. This month is one full of traveling for both of us. But know this, whenever we are apart, you are all that is on my mind. When we are together, I can't get enough of ya. Love ya Doll Face! You are my entire world. I wouldn't want it any other way. Your Guy

The Butter to My Biscuit

"Ya that happy to see me?" My Guy asks this silly question, as he walks into my dressing room last night. That sly sideways smile of his, makes my heart skip a beat! Maybe 2!!! Don't tell him, but between that smile, and those blue eyes, I just can't help myself!!! I just melt. :)

In all truth, I had just finished that last few lines, of that book, I'd been toting around all week. I read 6 or 7 books, a week. But once in a while, I happen upon a really good book. And it's a constant battle in my head. Do I read it quickly? Too see what's going to happen. Or make it last weeks? To enjoy it longer. This was one of those books. And those last few lines, made it all worth it!

I was happy with the ending of the book. As Manders was setting my hair in rollers. We were getting ready for the show. Cole was setting out the wardrobe for the night. Thinking about the fun show, later in the evening. Truth is, I was in such a GREAT mood!

The BBs are in town. My friends. My very best friends are here. For 2 glorious weeks!!! And here I am, on the moon! So happy. Hanging out with them. And my gorgeous Goddaughters.

Because the BBs are in town, I'm working with them. And the band, is working with this guy. It really is a match made in Heaven!!! We should be working together. But yesterday, it didn't quite happen that way. I found myself running around. Promoting the next 2 weeks events, on every local radio station. And this guy, was hard at work too.

It wasn't until that moment, when he walked in, that we'd finally had time to talk. I was so happy to see him. In all reality, he wasn't the reason for that specific smile. But 99.9% of the time, he's the reason for my smiles. :)

There's just something about this man. He makes my heart skip a beat. My lips can't help themselves, they turn up in a smile. Whenever he's around, I just smile. I crave a sweet kiss, from my Southern Gentleman! I get that spark of electricity, every single time we touch. The kind, that makes me realize, that loves is real.

Years ago, I was in a relationship. One that ended badly. I realized then, what I wanted in a relationship. In those dark moments, it hit me. Like that ball, shattering the window. I knew, I couldn't live like this. I knew, this was not what I wanted, or deserved.

Just days ago, I seen that man. Completely stressed out. Screaming at his poor little boy. Who was running through our local Albertson's. Pulling everything off the shelves. This man, was screaming. Losing it. Right there. In the middle of the cereal aisle.

In that moment, I knew, I'd made the right decision. That man, had once been good with kids. He'd helped me care for my nieces. Made sure we had family meals. That the girls went to school on time. That their tuition to private school was paid. That each one, knew we loved them. He'd had the patients to help with homework. Run kids to school activities. And even volunteered, to go on field trips. Because at the same time, I was working a full time job, going to school (25 credit hours), and starting my new internship at the hospital.

These days, he was fighting, with his sweet son. They couldn't agree on what color of grapes to buy. What cereal would be best. Or what this sweet little boy's favorite juice was...

I saw him. Defeated. This man, that I'd once loved. Had seen a future with. Had been through so much with. The one that I'd allowed myself, to once dream of a future with. It hit me like a ton of bricks. In his moment of need, I could only think..."I dodged a bullet."

Feeling guilty about that thought, I turned the corner. Managed to catch that sweet boy. He remembered me. I'd met him twice before. His daddy, was staying a good distance between us. I got down to his level, "Can we pick out your snacks? You and me together? No running." He nodded yes. And grabbed my hand.

We spent the next 20 minutes, slowly going through the store. Deciding on green grapes, strawberry wafer cookies, apple juice, Fruit Loops, pretzel sticks, string cheese, carrot sticks, pizza bites, and some frozen corn. I returned him to his daddy. Who'd spent the last 20 minutes angry, sitting on a bench. Near the front of the store.

No words were exchanged. Except for that sweet boy, "Tank you. Can you help me ext time too?" It broke me heart. I told him, the next time I seen him in the store, I'd help him too. I can't imagine what is going on there...

I turned around. Headed to pick out some avocados, corn tortillas, and strawberries. My original trip to the store, was supposed to have taken 5 minutes. By the time I was walking to my car, 1 bag in my hand, it had been an hour. And I couldn't help, but feel a sense of relief.

I'm not sure if anyone will understand this. Or how I can explain it. At the time we'd broken up, when everything had just melted before my eyes, I thought that was it. He was the only man that would ever love me. Now, what would I do?

But something about last night, made me realize, God has plans for us. That relationship, made me stronger. I'd had amazing boyfriends before that. Kind, gentle, loving. Something about the demise of this relationship, had shown me, everything I'd never put up with. That I was worth so much more.

Sitting in that chair. Feeling rather unattractive. As my friend put my hair in rollers. I had no makeup on. Sat there in one of this guy's old t-shirts, and a pair of torn sweatpants, I knew God had sent me to him. To this amazing man. To love him. To be loved by him. To share my life with.

It didn't matter what I looked like. That I more than likely, had onion breath. I'd just finished a quick snack. Or that we hadn't seen each other all day. He still makes my heart skip a beat. He still makes me feel beautiful. Loved. Important. And valuable.

When we got home, early this morning, it was the little things. The way he immediately gets out the car, and comes to open the door for me. Pulls me close to him. Kisses me, like I'm all that matters. Reaches for my hand, as we head inside. It's the fact that I don't have to tell him, but he goes to the fridge. Pulls out some water, and fruit. Meets me on the couch. And spends the next 3 hours, catching up on Grey's Anatomy with me.

It's the way, he gently strokes my hair. As I'm falling asleep. The way, he enjoys holding me, when I fall asleep. Not moving, so that I can get a few hours, worth of sleep. And it's the way, he looks me straight in the eye. Holding nothing back.

All those things, that we've gone through before this. They were to prepare us, for this relationship. It allows us to fully embrace it. And appreciate it. We don't take one thing for granted. Not one kiss. One snuggle. Or one moment. We appreciate each and every moment, we have together. However big or small. This, was always God's plan. And now, we just need to help each other. Help each other grow and prosper. Become stronger people together. He really is the butter, to my biscuit. ♥

Lucky Girl

I have to say this, I'm a lucky, lucky girl!!! I have this A-M-A-Z-I-N-G man in my life. That LOVES me much more, than he should. It's no secret. He goes over and above any expectations, that I could ever have. He's my honest to goodness, Prince Charming. Sent straight from God!!!

Sunday, I hopped on a plane. Headed out to visit my Mom. For her birthday, and Mother's Day. Zo and I, also had a credential thing to attend. You know, hours and hours of medical talk. To get that certificate that says, you in fact learned something.

Yesterday evening, we finally got back. If you follow me on Facebook, you could tell, I was happy to be home!!! I missed this man. More than words could say. The band, with their significant others and kiddos, arrived on Monday. And for the next almost 2 weeks, it's going to be so busy! Lots of work and performing, coming up.

So when I walked in the door, I was pleasantly surprised. Not just by the man that I love. But by the amazing things he had done for me. Like cooking a yummy dinner of meatloaf, mashed potatoes, and fresh corn. A little fresh strawberry cobbler. With vanilla ice cream. Delish!!!

After a delicious dinner, my Mr. cleaned up the kitchen, as I made my way, to a beautiful bubble bath. With a new book waiting for me. And I met this guy, in a beautifully crisp, cool, and gorgeous white bed. Where we caught up. On the last few days. Spent some good time cuddling. And just enjoying, being back together.

After crazy traveling, chaotic schedules, and life in general, it's nice to come home. To the man I love. And just be. To catch up. Enjoy life together. And embrace the few hours of peace and quiet, before our week gets nuts again!!!

I'm one very lucky woman! One that knows, men like this, are few and far between. I was that awkward girl in school. The one, that people wondered, "How could she be a cheerleader?" "What a dork!" "Poor girl." In lots of ways, that's still me. I'm not perfect. I've never been that "knock out." That is naturally a size 0. With perfect skin, hair and teeth. I'm not cool. I prefer for others to do my hair and makeup. Because, I'm still not confident in it.

In fact, I have lots of those awkward moments. When I wonder, "Why is he with me?" The fact is, this man, could have any woman!!! He's dated models, celebrities, and down right gorgeous women! But the one thing I'm positive about, is My Guy's love for me. He shows me all the time, how important I am, to him. And he's not afraid to tell me either.

This Man, is amazing. He's given up a lot, to be with me. To share these little moments. The ones that make life worth living. I'm so glad that we found each other. I'm so glad, that we're together. In this crazy thing we call life, he makes it worth living! And makes me feel, like I'm finally more than enough. The woman I am, right now, is perfect in his eyes. ♥

Mrs. Palmer's Fried Chicken

I have to say this much, My Guy is AMAZING!!! It's been a tough couple of days. If we're friends on Facebook, then you know why. And right now, that's all I'm going to say. I'm just not ready, to talk about it.

But back to this guy. He wanted to make me feel better. And he knows, that I REALLY LOVE fried chicken. But like me, he just doesn't attempt to make it. Not with his Grandma. Who makes the "World's Best Fried Chicken!" When we want fried chicken, we usually go to her.

This week, were still on the "road." Far from home. And I've been in a funk! A big one! So this guy, got the idea to make me, some fried chicken. He went to Google for a little help. And that sent him right to Gooseberry Patch. And this week's Recipe of the Week!

Mrs. Palmer's Fried Chicken

4 to 5 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
1 qt. buttermilk
salt and pepper to taste
2 c. self-rising flour
2 t. garlic powder
2 t. dried parsley
2 t. dried thyme
2 t. poultry seasoning
1 t. dried rosemary
1 t. pepper
1 qt. oil
Garnish: chicken gravy or sweet-and-sour sauce

Cut chicken into strips, approximately 3 per breast. Place chicken in a large plastic zipping bag; pour buttermilk over chicken. Seal bag and chill for 2 to 3 hours. Drain chicken, discarding buttermilk; season chicken with salt and pepper. In a separate plastic zipping bag, combine flour and seasonings; seal bag and shake to mix well. Add chicken to bag, a few strips at a time; coat thoroughly. Heat oil to 350 degrees in an electric skillet. Carefully place chicken into hot oil; cook until both sides are golden. Drain on paper towels. Serve with chicken gravy or sweet-and-sour sauce. Serves 4.

And that is the yumminess, that My Guy made me. With the best mashed potatoes. And corn on the cob. Heck, he even managed a peach cobbler, with vanilla ice cream! Carb Heaven I tell you! It was the best thing, to drown out my sorrows. This is definitely a meal, that we're going to come back to. Many times!!!

It's these tough times, that remind me, he's perfect! Takes care of me, when I need it most. Whether it's listening to long stories about my childhood, traveling home with me, or cooking for me...he does it. No questions asked! My Guy even ordered this cookbook for me. Thank You My Love!!!

Raspberry Upside-Down Cake

I'll admit this much, I was supposed to be studying yesterday. But I did take a few minutes, to look at this week's Gooseberry Patch Recipe of the Week. And it sounded delish! But as you know, I really didn't have the time, to give it a second thought, this week. So I "Favorited" the recipe. And hoped, to get back to it, later this week.

Little did I realize, but I was on this guy's laptop. And today, while I was at work, he got on his laptop. He was just hanging around the house. And he got the idea, to bake me this cake. So he called his grandma. Went out, and bought the ingredients. And when I got home, he not only had dinner made, but this beautiful cake! Yum!

Raspberry Upside-Down Cake

1/4 c. butter, melted
1/4 c. sugar
1-1/2 c. raspberries
2 T. sliced almonds
1-1/2 c. biscuit baking mix
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. milk
2 T. oil
1/2 t. vanilla extract
1/2 t. almond extract
1 egg, beaten
Garnish: additional raspberries and sliced almonds

Drizzle butter in a 9" round cake pan; sprinkle sugar over top. Arrange raspberries, open ends up, over sugar mixture; sprinkle with almonds. In a bowl, combine remaining ingredients except garnish. Beat with an electric mixer on medium speed for 4 minutes. Pour into pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 to 40 minutes, until a toothpick tests clean. Immediately place a heatproof serving plate upside-down over pan; turn plate and pan over. Leave pan over cake for one minute to allow sugar mixture to drizzle over cake; remove pan. Cool 10 minutes before serving. Garnish as desired and serve warm. Makes 9 servings.

It was so yummy! The perfect way, to end a very long day! I should tell you, that Pineapple Upside Down Cake, is my 2nd favorite cake. Right behind, a Fresh Strawberry Cake. With whipped cream! So this cake, already, has a sweet spot, in my heart!

From what I hear, this was a very easy cake to make! Minimal effort. With maximum impact! I am definitely printing out this recipe. And it's going to be one of those "go-to" recipes for me. The ones you reach for, when you want something fresh and easy. Something beautiful. And something beautiful to entertain with!

These are the little things, that make me realize, I have an AMAZING Man in my life! He knows, that this week, is a little nuts for me. Not much time, to take care of myself. Definitely, not time to take care of him. But he does these little things, that not only remind me, that he's taking care of me. But things that make my week so much calmer, easier, and enjoyable. This man, definitely knows, how to treat a woman! ♥

Why Wait?

Doll Face I think about this song, every time we come out here. Vegas right? Drive-thru weddings. Why wait? If we were any other couple, we'd have sealed the deal, years ago. But we're us. No tin a hurry. Living life on our terms.

Gorgeous lady, just so ya know, I love ya. Don't ever doubt that. Whether it's on a piece of paper or not. Know that we've got a lifetime together. When your ready, Pretty Lady, so am I! Vegas or not. Your Guy

A Woman Like You

My buddies and I were shooting the....well ya know. It got me thinking. Just how lucky I am. To have found, a woman like ya. Doll Face, my life has never been the same. Not since the day, I first laid eyes on ya. I hope ya know that. From that day forward, you've had all my attention. My love. Everything I got.

I don't always say things. Heck, I don't always know what to say. But know this. You're my whole world. Ya make life better. Just bein' ya. I couldn't ask for more. There is nothing more. Not when you're around. 'Cause honestly, I don't know what I'd do. If I'd never met a woman like you. Your Guy

You're My Better Half

Doll Face, that time has come again. The year is pickin' up. Work is in high gear. Lady it gonna get crazy! Then I think of ya. How calm you are. How ya never waiver. I know that I'm not the easiest guy, to deal with. At times, I can be Oscar the Grouch.

Know that I don't take you for granted. That I know, things are not always good. I'm Mr. Grouch. Probably annoying as hell. But you make life better. Bearable. Worth livin.' I appreciate it all!

It's Valentine's Day. Like usual, my mind is on work. We're out here. For my career. Don't think, that I overlook that. I don't. I know the sacrifices ya make. That you go over and beyond, for me.

I don't think, ya realize just what your smile means to me. How in a single instant, ya erase all the crap in the world. Ya make me feel,, like a good man. Even when I know, I've fallen short.

Lady, you are my world. My entire world. The things ya do for me. For my family. Don't go unnoticed. Not once. I see those things. I value those things. Taking care of me, my family, my friends, my co-workers. It means a heck of a lot!

When life isn't going well, all I need is you. A gentle touch. Soft words. A simple smile. Good laughs. Just the two of us.

I'm the typical man. Don't know how to tell ya, what I want to tell ya. I don't know how to plan the best Valentine's Day. But I know this. I love ya. With everything I got. I know that. I couldn't have gotten through so much crap, if I hadn't had you. Right here. At my side. Love ya! Baby Girl, you're my better half. I wouldn't want it any other way. Happy Valentine's Day! Your Guy

Just What We Needed

Let me start off with, I'm back in the South, with My Guy! It feels good to be back. In a place that feels not only familiar, but safe. Very safe. Let me tell you, I needed this. Last Sunday, was not a good day for me. I called a few friends. I just needed to talk. Family issues are just too heavy right now. So last Monday, I hopped on a plane, and headed East.

OK, so maybe this is not the best week, for me to come home. But I came. And this "Happy Couple," is just plain out happy! Even if this guy, had to work, all week long! And I mean all week! Yes, it's back to work for My Love. But he's excited about. Secretly, I'm 100% sure that he has missed working. He's just an adrenaline junkie. I know this. And love him just the same!

Back to yesterday. Have you seen the commercials, for all those Shirley Temple movies? You know the one. You pay $50 for all her movies. Well, that sounds like a good idea to me. I've actually seen this commercial, off and on, for more than 2 years. Did I mention? I'm a HUGE Shirley Temple fan! HUGE!!!

But. You know there is ALWAYS a but! But I'm always watching my money. And $50 for movies? Well, I just wasn't sure about it. I do LOVE me some Shirley Temple! But, there I go again, it is still $50!

Well, you know this guy. He's always thinking of me. Because that's just who he is. You know, My Guy. And he's always looking for things to make me happy. I'm not going to lie, lately, life has been so crappy! I've been "Down in the Dumps." Nothing, and I mean nothing, can sugar coat that. Not right now.

And people, if you don't know me by now, this isn't me. Not in my personality! The only bright things in my week have been, seeing My Guy, talking to some good friends of mine, and spending time with My Guy's family. I know. But it's the truth!

While I was in my home state, and My Guy was working, he ordered the Shirley Temple movies. Oh, and failed to tell me about it. He also surprised me, yesterday morning, with the movies. I'm not going to lie here, we've been in bed all day long! Watching these movies. :O)

I guess, we needed to do this. I know that we've both been in overdrive. For way too long! My Guy has been working like nuts all week! In fact, we spent Saturday in Georgia. While he worked. Honestly, it was a lot of fun! And it's getting us ready for 10 months, on the road.

But the break in our schedules, to do absolutely nothing, was terrific! We needed that. An entire Sunday in bed. Just relaxing. Napping. Eating yummy food. And of course, watching these movies, was the cherry on top! Now I need to think of something, to do for my Prince Charmin'. ♥

A Big Surprise!

I woke up to a Big Surprise this morning. HUGE actually! My Guy, bought us a house! In my hometown!!! I just about, killed over. I woke up, to this smiling man. Holding a breakfast tray. With flowers. And an envelope. Inside, all the paperwork to our new home. :O)

You see, before Christmas, we went to go look at houses. We've been dating for nearly 3 years now! And the last year, has been a challenge for my family. My Dad got sick in December 2010. Which has meant, that I'm spending a lot more time, in my hometown. Helping my family.

Every single time that I go home, I either stay in a hotel, or at this guy's house. Since he lives in Boston, he rarely is in our hometown. So my oldest friend, let's me stay at his house. Recently, I've spent more and more time in my hometown. My Guy has also spent a lot more time there. With me. And well, we've pretty much, lived in a hotel suite.

But with most things in life, you want to feel at home. Like you belong somewhere. Not in a place, where things feel borrowed. My Guy and I started looking for a small home. A place that is ours. A place where we can come back to. Be together. Enjoy my hometown. My family. My friends. A place were we can start to plant some roots.

We found a place. Accidentally. While taking a drive up to the nearby mountains. We were trying to avoid traffic from an accident. Turned down a side street. Got a little lost. And found a beautiful home. But it was a large home. A place for a family. A place for a full time family. Gorgeous. Spacious. Something that feels like home. That reminds me of this beautiful place, that I'm from. The place, where I became me. Where I grew into this person. A place to come back to. And to feel connected to again.

But I was using logic. We have a home. A beautiful home. In the South. I also have a home. In the small town, where I started college. I love that home. It was the first home, that I ever bought. The place, where I grew up. This man, also owns properties, sprinkled around the country. Places where we spend the most time, while we're on the road. Nothing too big. Or too extravagant. Mostly small places. Perfect for a few days. While he is working.

So my brain, said, "We don't need another home. No more property. We don't need it." Heck, I'm considering selling my home. But my heart, it really fell in LOVE with this home. Because it connected me back, to my hometown. And my roots.

I know that this man, really thought it out. I honestly, had forgotten all about it. I've been more consumed with my family, school, and my internship. He considered everything. Including the costs, with every visit we make. To my hometown. The same things, that he considered, when purchasing other properties. In the end, he knew it was the right thing to do. The responsible thing. And you know what he told me? "It's an investment in our future. One day, we'll split our time equally, between our home, and your hometown." It's important to him, that any future children that we have, are a part of both of our families!

I'm so excited! This is something completely out of the blue for me. COMPLETELY!!! But I'm super excited. Excited about this next chapter. To have this home, on all this property, overlooking those mountains. And that mesa. Near that river. Oh, I'm so excited!

Now, we have to start buying furniture. Painting walls. Moving in. Decorating. Making it our home. It's so exciting! To know that I'm putting down roots, in my hometown, with the man that I LOVE!!!

Here are a few ideas that we came across. And hope to incorporate into our new home. We have lots of windows...which means lots of great light. So we want to take advantage of it!

We have a small room, off of the kitchen. The realtor told us, that it was for a "Tea Room." Have you ever heard of one? I hadn't! But it's a gorgeous room. With dark floors, something like this. They were made from an old barn! So cool. And I have a chandelier, that we never used in our home. Perfect for this house!

I'd also LOVE to find furniture like this. It's just gorgeous! I could see this room, as a place where my girlfriends and I can just hangout. A place where we can chat, share tapas, and have a lot of laughs. I want to keep the paint color light, and some flowy curtains. With lots of candles. Of course! I think it could be magical.

The pantry in this home, is amazing! And I 100% think, that this could work perfectly! I have a nice collection of Fiestaware. The old stuff. And lots of colored glass. It's one of those things, that I've been collecting for such a long time!

There are also some nice bench seats in the pantry. It's an amazing space! I have to say this, a chef of some sort, had to have designed this space. Yes, it's just a dream come true! With a HUGE place for my Cookbook Collection.

There is also a nice breakfast nook. Off of the kitchen. And this my friends, would be amazing! It actually looks very similar to this space. Without the table and booths. I think this could be an amazingly simple project to do!

As you can see, we have a new and fun project on our hands. A HUGE project actually! The only problem is, both My Guy and I's schedules are really picking up. He's heading back to work. And I'm 100% preoccupied with school and my internship. This little project just might take a while. But it's definitely going to be a "Labor of Love." Thank you My Love! It means so much to me!

I'm All In!

I don't always tell my Doll Face, just what she means to me. I regret this. She's a damn great woman! I know this first hand. I'm very lucky. I know her love, first hand. It's something that I don't ever want to be without. Life before my Doll Face, just wasn't worth the effort.

We're apart for a few days. That makes these days less exciting. Have less meaning. Dang it, they just aren't the same. But I want my Doll Face to know, I'm all in. I'm proud to say those words. My Lady Love is worth that. And so much more!

Love ya Doll Face! Counting down the days, until you're back in my arms. Laughing at our silly fur babies. Smelling so sweet. Just being you. I'm all in. Love is what I see, when I see you. Your Guy

Why We Hide It...

"Love is patient. Love is kind, and is not jealous; love does not brag. And is not arrogant."
~1 Corinthians 13:4.

People ask me all the time, why would My Guy and I keep our relationship out of the public eye. Why doesn't my family know? Why would I be OK, being in the background, when we are in public? Why am I OK, with him paying someone else, to publicly take the heat? Why am I OK with all of this?

To begin with. It didn't start this way. We had a long distance relationship. My close friends knew about My Guy. My best friend met him. Loved him. Fell in love with his best friend. My Mom knew I was dating someone. And after 6 months or so, they had a long conversation on the phone. Later, she would meet him. While my Dad was in the hospital.

But this entire time, I've also been battling the Big C. Dealing with all that it is. Trying to stay on top of it. My Guy, has never once failed me. Or been upset with my situation. He's right by my side. Takes care of me. Holds me when I'm at my weakest. Takes me to doctor's appointments. Changes his schedule, to fly with me. So I can meet with specialists.

And that's exactly, what My Guy has always been all about. My biggest cheerleader. We both have very public jobs. Jobs that put us out there. Places that we're not always comfortable with. But we've signed up for our jobs. So we take all that comes with it.

That doesn't mean that we have a magic wand, that makes everything perfect. But we've both learned from our past relationships. Learned what works for us as an individual. What we both want in our lives.

From the beginning, we've had those ridiculously serious conversations. I've been blunt with my health. Never holding back. Never holding back, what I wanted, or expected from a relationship. My Guy, also laid it all out on the table for me. And we just have this understanding.

I moved East. So that we had a chance. So that we could figure all this out. And now, we're like a married couple. In many ways. Mondays are our Sundays. We spend most of the day in bed. Sleeping. Recovering from the other 6 days of the week. I cook every meal that I can. I clean. He works Tuesdays. And usually Thursdays-Sundays. We have those disagreements about clothes all over the floor. Where we're going to be, for various holidays. How and when, we're going to travel. Things like that.

But guess what else? My Guy supports me going to college. Getting these ridiculous degrees. Working crazy hours. He understands that I want to pay for my education. And at times, that's not easy. So I work. In music. A very demanding schedule. Many times, we spend many hours flying, from state to state, to be supportive of one another.

He sits in the audience. Watching me. Cheering me on. Being my biggest supporter. I still sit on Sundays, cheering him on. Making sure that he has everything that he needs, to be successful at his career. We're always there for each other. Especially on the bad days. Like when he walks in, and tells me, "I'm done. It's time to walk away. This job is too much." I get him to calm down. Realize it was a bad day. Things are going to get better. Work isn't always going to be like this.

Not everything is perfect. We don't have anyone to look at. To use as a guide, for our lives. Because our situation is different. He has a very public job. Makes money, from fans. And "Meet and Greet," type of situations. He has asked me many times, do I want to be more public? Do I want to go to these events? Not wear his company's shirts. You know, be at his side. Do I want to stand at his side, in public, every weekend?

I want to scream "YES," from the rooftops. Like I know he wants to do. But with my health, I just don't think it could be a possibility. Not right now. It feels unfair. Tough. I feel like, I'm a bad girlfriend. I should be stronger. I should be able to handle this. But when I first got sick, I was in another relationship. One that found people following me. To write about me. About my situation. To add these stories to "rag mags," and blogs.

This time around, I'm more cautious. Few people, really know who this guy is. His friends know about us. His family knows. A good group of my friends know. My Mom knows. But we're careful. My Guy is someone that wants to make sure, I'm safe. And taken care of. That I'm OK. This isn't his first rodeo. He's been through this before. And realizes how hurtful and nasty the public can be.

So we've talked about this. We have a plan in place. People don't realize, but we've almost been in this relationship for 4 years. 4 YEARS!!! We're happy. We live as "normal" a life as possible. We still eat dinner together. We travel together. We sit and watch silly movies. Weekly, we try to have dinner with his family. For a few months, his nieces lived with us. We're dedicated to each other. 100% That's all that matters!

But this past week, I knew he needed someone at his side. His PR team had been putting the pressure on him. We talked about this. Almost 18 months ago, a similar situation had come up. Then, we paid an employee of his, to stand by his side. That's it. Stand there. Don't say anything. Just be there. At the same time, it helped to calm the waters for us. I found that people stopped looking at me, every single time I ventured out. My life got simpler. When they thought he was with her...

Late November rolled around. And we knew something had to be done. A meeting was called. His close family came, his team, and boss. The decision was made. Call that same employee. All week, they've been seen publicly. All week, I've been there. In the background. Not having to deal with nonsense. Being able to enjoy myself. My Guy has been able to relax a little. Enjoy everything that has come, from all his hard work.

All week, at night, we went to many private parties and functions. Where I was able to be at his side. He came to see me, and the band perform. We could walk out, hand in hand, not having to look over our shoulders. It was amazing! The exact reason, why we keep "us" secret.

But Friday, people got crazy. This guy showed up for an event. Moments later, things were blowing up. People had lots of stuff to say. Nothing too nice. About his companion. About his decisions. Immediately, he was sending me texts. "We were right." "Glad we decided not to tell." "I'm glad you don't have to deal with all this s*&t!"

And there you go, the real reason why we keep "us," from everyone else. His company has received so much inquiry, about that poor girl. So many people are mad. Upset. And that person, well, people won't leave her alone.

Yes, I'm glad we decided not to share "us." I couldn't handle it. Not right now. Not with my health. Not with my Dad's health. I know how these people work. And right now, it's honestly too much to handle.

Like I said, I know we picked our careers. But we didn't necessarily pick everything else, that has come with them. We'd like to keep our "privates lives," well...private. That shouldn't be too much to ask for.

After the event, and my show, on Friday night...My Guy took me in his arms. Whispered in my ear, "I'm glad your in my life. Dang it, I wish that I could show you off to the world. I've never been happier. Never in my life. Never been prouder of anyone. Whatever it takes, I'm going to keep you safe. I love ya Doll Face." My Love, I LOVE you too! I'm not going anywhere. Regardless of what happens, I'll always stand by my man.

My Mr.

Some days, it just about kills me to be away from this guy. Yes, that would be my Mr. This morning in particular, made my heart break. I had to leave early in the morning. To catch my flight home. I need to get home, for Amelia's Baby Shower. My poor friend, she's due any day now. And we still haven't given her a shower! Oh, and I'm going to be Baby A's Godmother.

So I knew, that I had to get on the plane. And it was early. On a "Work Day" for this Mr. Who is more used to waking up 20 minutes, before he has to be at work. So I quietly kissed him goodbye. Only for My Guy, to wake up. I got that, "Come back to bed. You really don't have to go. Do you?" Half asleep, he pulled me into a hug. Lightly kissing my cheek. The way he does, when I can't sleep. And he's trying to lull me back to my slumber.

My heart broke. I let him fall back asleep. And I gently got out of bed. Making sure not to wake the man I love. I made my way to the door, picked up my bags, and got in the car. The entire ride to the airport, my heart was breaking. I felt bad. I thought about all the ways I could head back. And still make it to the Baby Shower. I knew it wasn't possible.

Before anyone gets too sick over my little story, I do love this man. With every fiber of my being. He does so much for me! Taking care of me when I'm sick. And well, that happens to be all too often. He makes sure that all my needs are met. Takes his jacket off for me, because I'm always cold. No matter what. He calls my friends, to find out what I've been pining over. Then I mysteriously get it in the mail. And he loves me. I know this. With absolutely no doubt in my mind!

In our relationship, things are a little different than most. He works a very public job. Hence, why we keep our identities, a little more guarded on the net. At least 70% of his life, is lived under a microscope. So I try to make his life better. Easier.

I've worked out a way, to travel with him. Every week. And I try to make life easier on him. I get his schedule. I memorize it, and help him to stick to it. I make sure that he is up on time, dressed appropriately, and has eaten. I make sure there are meals for everyone on his team. I take care of crisis. Whatever I can do, I do.

At the same time, he takes care of me. Makes sure that I don't worry about day to day financial issues. Makes sure I'm taken care of health wise. We are there for one another. And especially from now until November, I feel like I need to be there for My Guy. It's tough. But it's what we know works for us. It's the best possible solution.

So on an important weekend like this, I feel bad. To leave him. And not be his supporter, biggest cheerleader, and just his best friend. Yes, we'll talk on the phone. And all those people will wonder exactly who he's talking to. He'll just smile. And be happy that we talked. I'll have a knot in my stomach. Because I should be there.

Sometimes, it's just hard to live this life. To live a private life, in a very public way. I'm positive that people know he's dating someone. But we've chosen to keep the "Who" a secret. It's tough to be apart. Especially when we need each other. But I also know, that for this thing to work, we need to have our own interests, and projects. And we look at it this way, the only way we're going to miss each other, is if we're apart. So, in a few days, I'll be over the moon. Because we'll be back together. Cuddling on the couch, catching up on life, laughing at silly TV shows. Until then, I have a Goddaughter to prepare for. ♥

Back to Reality

Yes, we're really back to reality. Full force. This Mr. is back at work. I'm swimming in e-mails. And the dogs are begging me, to go for a walk. Yes, we are back to life. Constantly ringing cellphones and all!

But it's nice. There is always something good, about digging into a busy life. Getting knee deep in things, that need to be done immediately. Making sure the Mr. gets breakfast and lunch, between his crazy schedule. Trying to figure out what we're having for dinner. The same dinner, that we invited 30 co-workers to. And trying, so hard, to include a little bit of exercise in there. Somewhere. Anywhere in my day.

People just look at me, with a completely blank stare, when I tell them about our days. All the things we have to cram into 24 hours. How we manage this schedule. What the Mr. does for a living. How I manage to be a full time Med student, with this insane internship. Oh, all while battling the Big C.

I'll be the first to admit it. It's not always easy. But it's a good life. The life I chose to share with this man. And at the end of the day, when I crawl into bed, to tell him all about my day, I'm glad he's there to cuddle with. We talk about crazy patients, dumb papers, publicity stuff, cars, new business ideas, silly pets, and our dreams for our future. It's the best way to end any day. Wrapped in his arms, dreaming about our life together!

As we look at a solid 4 months of "Being on the Go," I'm OK with it. Because I have this man at my side. Ready to catch me when I fall. Excited to walk this path with me. And even when dinner doesn't come out, just the way that I had imagined, he's OK with it. Because together, we laugh at the silliness of our lives. Even if it leaves us eating PB&J at midnight. While trying to figure out where our luggage is. Yes, we're back to reality!

Quiet Time

I'm pretty much craving a little bit of this. Quiet time. A good book. A comfy couch. No worries. Just some time to breathe. Time to let my mind rest a little. Maybe a cool breeze. And the light scent of fresh flowers.

The last few months have been extremely busy. And chaotic. I might have a crap load of siblings, but I still feel the entire weight of the world. You know, when it comes to my parents. I wouldn't have it any other way. I enjoy "being there" for my parents. I like that I have the opportunity, to take the time off of my life. And just be with my Mom and Dad. Nursing my Dad back to health. Easy the stress and pain that my Mom feels.

But it's a heavy load to bear. Especially with everything else I have going on. Let's not even get me started on my own health issues. I'm exhausted. And work, well, it just takes the last of my energy. All the time! School, well it's there too. It's never been hard. But it's draining.

God knows this. I'm positive that's why he has sent me My Guy. A man that I can lean on. And really believe and trust. Someone that is always here for me. Someone that stands beside me. And when things get too hard, he carries me along. Did you read his post from yesterday? All I have to say is, I'm one very lucky woman!

I know, that God knows best. He holds my entire future in his hands. I believe this, with my entire heart and soul. I also believe that he sends us the perfect people. The ones that fit right into our lives. That make us better. The people that help us to stretch and grow.

As much as I crave peace and quiet. Most of all, some alone time, I'm glad I have My Guy. He makes my entire life more simple. He adds to the quality of my life. And encourages my dreams, hopes and goals. That's incredible!

Today, instead of staying in. You know, in my gorgeous hotel suite, I'm heading out. To be a supporter of My Guy. To show him the love and support, that he shows me, all the time! There will be enough quiet time in my future. I have 3 books packed for our trip. But today, I'll be cheering on the man I love. My reading will just have to wait. ♥
