A Few of My Favorite Things

A few days ago, My Guy and I headed to my parents' cabin. My Mom had asked me to go and "winterize" the place. Because, they just couldn't get out there. Being that this guy is taking a little break from work right now, totally played into this plan.

We headed to Albertson's for a few necessities. And then across the street, to Walgreen's. You know, before heading to the mountains. Where the nearest store, is over an hour away. We needed to stock up, on a few things. Nothing too nuts. As we were only going to be there, for 2 days.

But that didn't seem to bother, little 'ol me. :) First of all, I'm pretty sure, I bought out these little guys. My favorite candy. That I can't find anywhere else...

Why are they my favorite? I don't know. Probably because these are my favorite flavors. And I don't have to eat lemon candies. That I just don't like.

Oh, and I couldn't resist the "Beauty Section." Where I bought my new favorite nail polish. L'Oreal's "Eiffel For You." It looks pretty purple, or lavender, in this picture. But in reality, it's more of a grey color. A great neutral for Fall.

Oh, and of course my favorite purchase!!! Gooseberry Patch's Halloween magazine. It's loaded with tons of fun ideas for Halloween. Not just food people! Decorating ideas. And little gifts too! The price was a little high. But with a nice coupon, I only paid $4!!!

Yes, I've spent the last few days trying new recipes. Dreaming of all the things, I'm going to make this month. Writing out lists of supplies, I'll need. Oh, and enjoying my candy. Seriously people, why can't I find it at other stores? ♥

My Little Secret

Apparently, I've been holding out on you. And you. And you too! I totally forgot to blog about this. And recently, my friend Annie, reminded me of it!

You see, about a year and a half ago, I went to Walgreen's. I went to transfer my Dad's prescriptions there. We were having some issues with the pharmacy, he had been using. While I waited for his prescriptions, I went to look through the makeup. Particularly, the nail polish. Revlon's was on a BOGO. And I had a coupon!!!

Well, I totally got caught up, in searching for other things, and was startled when my name was called. So I quickly picked up 2 nail polish colors. Liked the colors, but didn't notice anything else.

After getting everything home to my parents, I headed to the hotel, where I was staying. Exhausted! I quickly polished my nails, hung my hands over the edge of the bed. And went to sleep.

The next morning, I smelled raspberries. But couldn't figure it out. The color was Raspberry Rapture. I got ready, and as I was putting on my makeup, I smelled it again. That day, I must have asked 10 people, if my nail polish smelled like raspberries.

That night, I polished a second coat. And this guy asked if my nail polish smelled like raspberries. Yes, that's what it was. I LOVED the color, the slight scent, and the price. With my coupon, I actually made $1 on every bottle. Um, I went back, and bought all of them!

I thought I had blogged about these polishes. But when I met Annie recently, I realized I hadn't. I don't even know what we were talking about. Or how we got on the subject, of my nail polish. But I told Annie about my little discovery.

She told me it wasn't on my blog. And we searched and searched. Sure enough, nowhere to be found! So I started writing. And over the next 2 days, I was talking to everyone about these nail polishes. Including my Mom. Who LOVES to do her nails! I'm pretty sure, I just sold Revlon at least 20 bottles!!! Funny how that happens. I guess it's better to share with you all late, than never at all. Now let me think of what else, I've missed telling you about... ♥

Summer Fun!

Last month, I blogged about "Island Coral." It's such a pretty color! I've actually, absolutely fallen in LOVE with 2 colors, from Sinful Colors. "Island Coral" and "Cinderella."

I've worn "Island Coral" pretty much since I bought it. I LOVE that it's soft. And more on the pink side, than orange. And this week, I'm trying out "Cinderella." It's a beautiful blue/aqua color. Reminds me of the tropical blue oceans. Oh so pretty! With just a hint of sparkle. Not crazy, chunky glitter. Just some sparkle. That catches the light, so softly. Perfect for some Summer fun!

While hunting for a picture of the nail colors, I've come to realize something. I'm not alone. There are tons of women out there, that are in LOVE with these 2 colors! They're not your "typical" bright Summer colors. But not pastels either. Some beautiful mixture of the 2!!!

For me, I was just looking for something fun. A color other than pink. And white. I'm pretty sure, everyone is sick of seeing my nails, painted white. So I picked up 2 colors. Colors that I wouldn't normally wear so much. But I'm so glad that I bought them. :) They've made my Summer, so much more fun and colorful!

I LOVE You Island Coral

Before we left on vacation, I headed to Walgreen's. To pick up a few things, that I thought we'd need. OK, so I didn't NEED a new nail polish. But I bought a few! :)

There's just something about Sinful Colors, that gets me every single time. I picked up 4. It didn't hurt that they were 99 cents! And I only packed 2. Can we say it? I'm in LOVE with "Island Coral."

This color is perfect for the beach. And light skinned gals like me. 2 coats on my toes, and fingers. That was days ago. And it's still going strong. No base coat, no top coat. Just lots of love! It's not too orange. Not too pink. Not too bright. Just perfect for Summer!

Summertime Favorite

I have to put these out there. I'm definitely what you would call a "Girly, Girl." I LOVE makeup, clothes, shoes, jewelry, accessories. All that good stuff. But I've never really felt like I was a gorgeous woman.

Most of this might be, because I cheered when I was younger. And was surrounded by gorgeous girls. My Mom didn't really wear makeup. So I was on my own there. My hair has always been a "Thorn in My Side." That sort of thing.

But as I've gotten older, I've really begun to enjoy these things much more. A lot of this probably has something to do with this lady, and this lady. Oh, and because I've become a performer now. And it's my "job" to dress up, and look nice.

Well, as much as I love all these things, in the "Heat of Summer," I'm not a fan! Not at all! In fact, for the last few weeks, I've been sporting leggings, and some sort of long and flowy tank top. Oh, and those ballet flats. My hair is up and out of my face. Makeup is at a bare minimum.

But I don't think it's a "Bad Thing." Heck no! It leaves more time to enjoy life. And I feel so much "lighter." Heck, I'm pretty sure, my skin and hair are thanking me right now. But the one thing that I've always really gotten into, during the Summer, is nail color!

Yes, it's my one thing. It's definitely a "Summer Thing." I paint my nails 2-3 times a week. I probably buy 4 nail polishes a week! It's so addictive. Because it's my way of adding color, to my outfit. And honestly, painted nails are s cute!

Well, in the Summer I usually gravitate towards 2 colors. White or Essie's Turks & Caicos. I know! But they remind me of Summer. I sport the white for 3 or 4 weeks. Then add that gorgeous turquoise color for a week or so.

Last week, My Bestie needed to make a quick run to the store. She was all out of chocolate! And we all know what happens when Hills doesn't have chocolate! :) So we headed to a local CVS. She went looking for candy, and ice cream. I got caught up by this gorgeous display of L'Oreal nail polish!

And what in the world did I find? Some of the most gorgeous colors! Colors that all the "expensive brands" are carrying right now. I quickly picked 4, got my favorite magazines, and a couple of cards. Yes, I know! But it was some last minute stuff that I needed, before we left on vacation. :)

This gorgeous color is called, "Club Prive." This incredibly creamy, aqua color. Immediately, I was in LOVE!!! When we got back, I realized I'd forgotten Turks & Caicos at home. Good thing I picked this baby up!

2 things you should know. Maybe 3. This color is almost exactly the same as Essie's Turks & Caicos. But it only cost $5! It's very similar to China Glaze's For Audrey. Except For Audrey is a bit more blue. Unless you're like me, you probably wouldn't notice this. Oh, and the consistency of the polish, is AMAZING!!!

So we've been on the water, and the beach, for days now! My nails have been painted since last Friday. No base coat. No top coat. This polish is amazing!!! It might just be my new Summertime favorite! :) I can't wait to get back, to try my other 3 colors!!! ♥

Oh My!

Do you ever find a single product, and completely get stuck on it? Say you have a nice little eyeshadow collection, and you reach for the same 2 eyeshadows every single day. I'm one of those people. When I find a product I LOVE, I stick with it.

This could be the reason why I move Heaven and Earth, to track down my beloved mascara. Or why for the last 15+ years, I've used the same sunscreen. Or why no matter what new hand soap comes out, I'm still buying Target's "Milk and Honey" gigantic bottle of soap!

And sometimes, I do this with certain colors of makeup. And I'm not just talking about my foundation. I'm talking about things like lipstick, eyeshadows, and nail colors. A few years ago, I got stuck on white nail polish. For 3+ months, I wore white nail polish. These days, it's Sally Hansen's "Cafe Au Lait!"

It's just the perfect neutral color! :) For the last 2 months, we've been BFFs!!! And I just had to share with all of you. First of all, this is totally affordable. I bought 2 bottles of Sally Hansen nail polish, for $6. At Walgreen's, during a sale. These sales happen all the time! As in every other week.

Secondly, this nail polish is a dream to work with! The formula is not watery, but it's also not to think. I find this to be really important. A thin formula usually means, about 4 or 5 coats. Essentially, wasting the product. And if it's too thick, you get gloppy, messy looking nails. Not with this nail polish. I can get a good opaque look, in 1 coat. With 2 coats, it's just AMAZING! And better yet, you don't need a base coat or a top coat. Just this nail polish!

By this I mean, 2 coats equals a 8-10 day manicure! What a dream! Especially when you are busy like me. You just don't have time to sit and polish your nails. This color, formula, and price is a DREAM!!! It's paired nicely for some performances, a wedding, and a day at the lake. Honestly, this is one of those products, you have to buy this summer! ♥

Treasures from Family Dollar

The last 2 weeks, are just a complete blur! No lie! I'm exhausted. We've done a lot of traveling. And even more working. But, I have something fun, to share with you. Before I settle in, for a quick nap! :)

My Bestie and I, recently went to Family Dollar. You see, when My Guy and I, were taking a little break, at my house, My Bestie, this guy, and Baby C were traveling. They made a little stop to get My Bestie her favorite BBQ. And then, they went shopping, in the Family Dollar, next door.

My Bestie saw a cute outfit, that she really wanted for Baby C. But they didn't have her size. :( And it was super cute! She sent me a picture. A little eyelet and peach dress. Adorable! So when we all met up in Sin City, we were positive, that we'd find it!

But the week was crazy! And I didn't really have any "down time," to go shopping. And My Bestie, was trying to avoid her ex-husband. So no shopping was done. :( But this week, we found ourselves, with some "down time." Not much for the 2 of us to do, while this guy, and this guy worked. So we headed to town.

And we found a Family Dollar. And well, we went a little nuts! That can happen in stores like this. Because everything, is ridiculously inexpensive. Well, 3 hours later, we walked out. With more bags, than I'd like to admit. I'm not lying! But we did find Baby C's dress!

One of the products that I did buy, was a nail polish. It was a last minute deal. I saw it, at the register. And I thought, for a $1, why not try it. The worst possibility, Big K might inherit it!

This is Sea Siren. The perfect turquoise color! Something that I'd been wanting to buy. For Spring. It's a little darker, in person. And has the slightest shimmer to it. Nothing crazy. Not glitter. But a shimmer, that sort of catches the light.

Like every other nail polish, that I've ever worn, it took 2 coats, to appear opaque. I polished my nails on Tuesday night. No base coat. No top coat. I've cooked, cleaned, crafted, worked, and even gardened this week. All week! And I didn't have a single chip!!! I took it off this morning. To paint my nails lime green. You know, because it's St. Patty's Day. I'm sure, I could have gotten a few more days, out of this nail polish.

I have to say, this nail polish really shocked me! For a $1, it holds up better, than some of my more expensive ones. I'm always surprised, by what I find in dollar stores. But this was a great buy! I'm thinking, I need to head back to Family Dollar. And pick up a few more nail polishes. ♥

Steady As She Rose

A while back, I got the Pirates of the Carribean Collection, from OPI. No, I didn't buy it. I'm not that crazy! Who spends $45 on nail polish? Not me! But I got it as a gift. I was over the moon! More so, because it's one of those things that I really wanted. But would never buy myself.

Who in the heck can resist these colors though? They are gorgeous! It was immediate "LOVE at First Sight." No lie! These colors are right up my alley. Perfect for summer. With a few staples, that can easily work all year round. Like Steady As She Rose...

Yes, this color ranks way up there! The perfect mix of lilac and grey. Something different. Not completely out of the ballpark. But just perfect. A color that I longed for, without knowing about it. Yes, I'm actually going to go buy a second bottle. Why? Because I see this as being a staple of mine. A color that I reach for, because it's a fun neutral. ♥

Commander in Chic

This little beauty, has been a favorite of mine for a while now. So much so, I think I'm on my 4th bottle. OK, so I kinda lost bottle #3. But it was half empty. You know, during the mad rush to the hospital in December. Nonetheless, I'm in love!

The color is gorgeous. Somewhere between a grey and a lavender. Mmm, just a beauty! And the actually nail polish formula is a dream. As is the application. Yes, it's a perfect little bottle! And it's available at the drugstore...for under $6!

And since it's Sunday, and I'm with My Guy, well I just wanted to share one of my favorites. You know, in this quick post. Because, I've got some incredible plans with My Guy today. That is, if we could be bothered to actually get up and leave the house. To be home...it's an incredible feeling. :) Maybe I'll repaint my nails with my brand new bottle of Commander in Chic! You know, while chilaxing in bed. Happy Sunday! ♥

Super Star

Hi there Sew, Mama, Sew friends. You can find my giveaway right here. Good luck! And I hope you come back soon.

I'm in LOVE with this nail polish. It's Pure Ice, Super Star. The perfect glittery, crimson color for the Holiday season. I picked it up the other day. Violet and I made a mad dash to Wal-Mart. She was looking for a new mascara. And I got lost in the world of nail polish.

That night, I painted my nails. And they've been perfect ever since! No chips, no bumpiness from the glitter, no peeling. I didn't use a base or top coat. Just the Super Star polish. It's definitely a must have for only $2! ♥

Bubble Bath

Let me tell you my friends, I get a ton and a half questions, about what color nail polish I wear, 90% of the time. And 90% of the time, I'm wearing this beauty. OPI's Bubble Bath nail polish. It's gorgeous! A light pink. It goes well with my skin color. Which doesn't happen often. So I LOVE it when I find a "perfect" shade like this one.

I had to laugh one day. I was reading an article somewhere, and it mentioned that Giada de Laurentiis wears this color on her show. I just had to laugh. Because I really like her. And I enjoy watching her show. And I may or may have not drooled over the color on her nails. Here all along, I've been wearing the same color!

You can buy a bottle here, for $2.45. You do have to apply 2-3 coats for a beautiful result. But honestly, I don't mind. It just ends up looking amazing. This is a very classic color. And honestly, it is one of my favorites! ♥

Mercury Rising

I just found my favorite nail polish color for Fall! This picture doesn't do it justice! Not at all! But I will tell you all about it. I went to Walgreen's earlier tonight. And I was strolling along, looking for some things to buy. Small Halloween trinkets for my goddaughters. Nothing crazy, a small pumpkin or a hair bow. Things like that.

I had my hands full with Halloween trinkets. And I was patiently waiting. There was a HUGE line at the front of the store. And there was a family in front of me in the beauty area. Doing their grocery shopping. But taking forever! So I waited. The little boy was nice enough to go and get me a small basket to put my things in. And I waited. They were trying to get all the deals and use all their coupons.

So I started looking around the register. And I saw a display of "Halloween" nail polish. It was just the Sinful Colors nail polish, in various shades of green, orange, purple, black, and yellow. I was not really interested in them. So I continued to look at the display under the counter.

And there it was. In all it's glory! Mercury Rising. Completely overlooked. And under purchased! The perfect brownish maroon color. With orange glitter. Or at least, that is what it looked like in the bottle. I figured, it would be a good color for Halloween. So I bought it. I couldn't pass it up at $1.99.

Of course, the minute I got a chance to try it, I did! And the color is perfect! Not a "Halloween" color like I had thought. But a nice Fall nail color. It is a deep brown color, with the slightest bit of maroon. The orange glitter isn't huge like it looked in the bottle. It is more like of a sheen.

Completely reminds me of the changing leaves. A nice thickish formula. But very easy to use. Opaque in color. And after 1 coat, you are perfect. This is one of their better colors. But of course, I used 2 coats and a top coat. My Guy, he likes it too! ♥
