A Taste of Yesteryear

This guy and I were talking the other day. About the "Good Old Days." Like either of us, really lived through them. OK, we sorta did. This guy's childhood, happened during the 70s and 80s. Mine was more, the 80s and 90s.

Another thing on our minds, was finding a really cool gift, for this little guy. Something fun. Meaningful. And something that would bring a bit of the past, back to life. We're just like that. We like retro and vintage type of things. We enjoy learning about the past. So I did a quick search. And found a few of our favorites. :)

Do you remember this little guy? Being that I spent a lot of time in the mountains, I remember him well. My grandparents lived in the mountains. And I spent so much time with them! So seeing Woodsy, was very common. This guy remembers Woodsy too! As he and his family, spent a lot of time, hunting and fishing, while he was growing up. :)

The same can be said for Smokey the Bear. I remember going to the State Fair, every year, as I was growing up. And all I ever wanted to do, was go see Smokey, and eat a turkey leg! :) Smokey would also come to our school, and teach us all about Fire Safety. Yes, we saw a lot of him in the mountains too! In fact, this guy and I, went to go see his memorial. :)

And lastly, are all these books. I didn't have any of these brand new. None! I don't know if they came before I did. But that's how it happened. And oh, I just LOVE books! I've always had a ton of books. But I did have some of these books. OK, a nice collection. I don't know where they came from. Perhaps, they were from my older siblings.

Yesterday, this guy and I, we went shopping. At the most AMAZING antique, and second hand shops. Oh hello! The southwest has some amazing ones. I just wish, that we would have had more free time to shop. We found lots of pieces, for our homes. This guy added to his Vinyl Collection. I added to my own Cookbook Collection. And we picked up some gifts.

It was a day, dedicated to "Yesteryear." We "rescued" a lot of the past. And hope to bring new life to it. Including a nice stack of books, for this guy's nieces and nephew. Something that we hope, brings them many years of happiness. Yes, it was a nice trip, down "Memory Lane!"

Happy St. Patty's Day

Happy St. Patrick's Day! Funny how we are out here, in the middle of paradise, and we're planning a "traditional" St. Patrick's Day dinner. I've never had a "traditional" dinner. I'm usually fasting for Lent. But this year is different. And what a fun way to spend our last night in paradise.

This was definitely the trip that we both needed. In more ways than one. It's been absolutely insane in our lives. And well, we won't have another break until mid July. So we definitely enjoyed our time out here!

And one last note, today is my friend Patricia's birthday. We haven't seen each other in forever. But I never forget. It's funny how that works. Some people just leave a lasting imprint on our lives. I hope she has a great birthday! And I hope everyone enjoys their St. Patty's Day! Now I'm off to have some yummy green crepes. :) ♥

Giving Myself to God

I just needed some time to think. Out here, in the middle of paradise, that's exactly what I'm getting. Because I need it. I need to work through it all. Personal stuff. Family stuff. Where my life is headed. I need to work through it.

I'm good at all those things. Listening. Thinking. Waiting. Forgiving. Trying. Lately, it's been difficult. My heart has been hard towards certain people. And it's really effecting all parts of my life. I need to let that hard part go. Just let it tumble out of my life.

It's the tough stuff that makes us...well, us. And it's the tough stuff that makes me remember what's important. I'm glad. I really need to get my priorities straight. I need to give myself up to God. And let him guide me more in my life. This paradise, it's the place he created. For people like me to come to. Just to think and reconnect. ♥

Enjoying the Beach

What have I been up to? Enjoying the sun, sand, and My Guy! You have to love a good vacation. Even if it's coming to an end. How can you not enjoy paradise?

On Wednesday, we head home. Well, not home exactly. More like, to where My Guy is going to be working this weekend. And we're not going to have a weekend off until Thanksgiving. I know! What a long way away! Maybe now you can understand why this vacation was so important to the 2 of us. And why we had to keep it a secret. You know, the location.

I'm truly in love with this place. It's not the 1st time we've been here. This is our secret getaway place. There are gorgeous white, sandy beaches. Crystal clear, blue oceans. And it's so secluded. Seriously, other than people we've called for food and such, we haven't seen a soul while we've been here. This is definitely my version of paradise! See you Wednesday! ♥
